Our computer is not very user friendly, so we have to put codes in to change screens.  It is not too hard to toggle back and forth, but you must either use the special keys at the top of the keyboard where function keys usually are, or put a "." followed by the command letter, before the screen will obey.  What makes it hard to remember is that if you get back to the beginning screen by pressing .q or q too many times, you have to start at the beginning and enter the number again (remember from the Check this out page).  Please feel free to ask for help, especially at first, we expect you to.

Remember that book you have in your hand?  Now, lets check it back in.  This is very complicated, so pay attention:

The screen is on Check-out, so press .c (we usually say it as "dot c") and enter.  You should be on a screen that says Check-in with a lot of blank space.

  1. Place the bar-code reader over the barcode on the material.

  2. Pull the trigger.

The screen should show the barcode of the material you checked in, but it won't show the title.

Congratulations, you have just checked a book in.

That is the most important job in the place.
