Further Orders

Back to the Zack The Zipper Homepage

It is good to see that you have finished your investigation.  Now the real work begins!  Now that you have collected the background data, it is time to see if you can apply that information to our case.

 Step #1

Here is what you need to do.  You have spent a tremendous amount of time traveling through the past in our time machine gathering information.  Now it is time to get back into the present.  We need you to see if Zack The Zipper has been successful in changing things.  In order to do this we must closely examine our surroundings to look for anything that might be missing.  You will do this by taking a walking tour of the neighborhood.  As you wander along, look for evidence of some contribution by each of the cultural or ethnic groups you have studied.  We have located 20 possible things for you to examine. You will take a list of the groups you studied and as you see evidence of their existence in our current culture write down their name on the line corresponding with the number of the place or thing you are looking at.  Click on the picture of list next to the door below to get the list.  It is printable, but be sure you ask the Chief  (your teacher) for permission before you print it.

Walk through (click) the base exit door below to begin your new investigation.  When you return scroll down for further orders.

Final Task

Now that the investigation is over it is time to write up your report.  I know you may not want to do this but it is a necessary part of being a detective.

I need to know if you think that Zack the Zipper has been successful in changing history.   In your report you need to tell me if he was successful and discuss the evidence you found to support your decision.  Your report must be given in paragraph form.  Click on the picture of the report below to get the report form.

Again, it is printable but make sure you get permission before you print it.  There are more specific instructions on the report form.

Next to the report form below you will see a checklist form.  Click there and use this checklist to evaluate your work before turning it in.  Below the checklist on the checklist page, you will see a rubric that will be used to evaluate your report.  You can refer to both of them as you write your report.

Be sure to use your folder of “Time Detective Notebook pages” to help you remember the information you gathered.  These notebook pages will serve as your prewriting.  Be sure you have covered all cultural and ethnic groups in your investigation.  There are twelve in all.  You should have a notebook page for each of the following:

African Americans

Chinese Immigrants

Japanese Immigrants

Arab Immigrants

Mexican Immigrants

Caribbean and South American Immigrants

Eastern Woodland Indians

Plains Indians

German Immigrants

Irish Immigrants

Italian Immigrants

Amish Immigrants
