SCENARIO: Dr. Smith, our school district superintendent, has approached the Art Department at our high school with the proposal to create the first ever research based artist index. Students in the art program must create pages to go into this artist index, to be used by future students when performing research or studying, as well as for use by educators in our district and in others.

ASSIGNMENT: To create your artist page, you must first choose from a list of artists from the ArtNet Main Page (click here to go to the main page). Choose an art movement from the main page, and from the movement page select an artist. Artists who already have pages cannot be chosen. When you have selected your artist, perform research on the artist. Write a short (one page equivalent) biography based on your artist. Using the tutorial (click here) create your Web page using Microsoft Word (you may also use OpenOffice.org’s text editor or a website creation program, if you are familiar with these). You must include a minimum of three images of artworks by your selected artist, and you must also include either a photograph of the artist or a self-portrait image. At the bottom of the page you must also include your research, cited in APA format; and minimum three off-site links. At the top of your page, you must include a title, and underneath that title but before your biography you must include “bread crumbs” (see tutorial).
