As you know, World
Affairs is a current events course. There will be news stories that
you will need to look for. The following links are good places to
begin a search for a specific news event.
The advantage of
Yahoo News is
up-to-the-minute reporting. The site will tell you when the story was
posted. From here there are links to other news sites and to news
sub-categories, like sports news and financial news. Full coverage
topics will give you a series of different articles about a particular
topic. Yahoo News also features photo slideshows of current events.
Google News has a
similar format to Yahoo News. Stories are dated and timed to tell you
when the story was posted. News subtopics are organized in a list, so
it's easier to find sports news or world news than on Yahoo.
CNN is another good news source, with many
free video clips of events.
BBC News is from the British
Broadcasting Company. It gives you the
European perspective
on current world issues in English. Click on the links on the left to
read top headlines of different world regions.
Current
government news
is available from the White House
and from the Federal News Service.
Both of these sites offer transcripts of official federal news releases.
Statewide
news is available at the
Ohio News Network.
The American
Association for the Advancement of
Science publishes
Science Magazine. They
also publish EurekAlert, which
includes medical research and science information designed for students.
Science News is the companion
website to the weekly magazine, Science News.
Science@NASA is written for students
and families. It discusses space
news, earth science, physical science and biology.
