After you've both agreed on a country to live in, it's time to prepare your persuasive speech.  Both of you need to help with this and both of you will need to spend equal time presenting.

bullet

In your speech, you're trying to convince your editors to send you to a country.  You won't get far if your reasons are "I have less of a chance of getting shot there."  Instead, you need to convince your editors that the region you've selected is extremely important for the American people to read about.  So for your speech, your real motives for choosing a country could be hidden.

bullet

The speech needs to be two minutes, so split that time in half.

bullet

In order to fill the time, you will need to compare your choice to the countries that you did not select.  So make sure to include information from all four regions.  Remember, your goal is to get your way, so you have to do a good job explaining what's going on the region you selected and why that is so important for the magazine to cover.

bullet

Make sure to practice your speech multiple times.  Plan who will cover which material very carefully before the end of class.  Plan on calling each other tonight to practice or find time during the school day, prior to 15-16 to practice.
