As a writer for a major national news magazine, you will be spending six months in the field starting at the beginning of next month.  You are used to working with a co-author, so you will be allowed to bring along another writer of your choosing on this assignment.  Your editors are willing to give you and your colleague a choice of locations, but you will need to convince them of which location is best for both of you.

You and your partner will need to read about each of the four locations: Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan, and the occupied area of the West Bank in Israel.  While you read, you will need to compare the dangers of each region, the living conditions in each of the areas, and the importance of reporting news from that region.  You will both need to contribute to preparing a two minute speech to give to your editors.  In the speech, you must explain to your editors why it is necessary for you to cover the news from the area that you selected.

The persuasive speech will be planned and presented together.  Then individually, you will each write your own reflection paper.
