Library Intern

  • Instructed faculty in small groups of 10 - 20 staff members.  In three in-service sessions, teachers learned about web searching and website credibility, better search techniques, and available Infohio resources.

  • Team-taught and consulted with teachers who brought their classes into the library.   

  • Produced web searching, MLA citation, and database help sheets to assist students in independent library work.

  • Assisted students in library with individualized help with book reference, computer programs, and internet sources.

  • Selected, ordered, cataloged and processed new books for the collection.

  • Weeded the science collection, after developing a de-selection policy for the media center.

  • Worked extensively with word processing, databases, web resources, Infohio, cataloging systems, LNOCA resources, and the Union Catalog.

  • Taught courses, including U.S. History, World History, and World Affairs/Current Events.

  • Utilized team-teaching environment to teach the research paper process, implement print and Power Point projects, to manage student discipline issues, to contact parents, and for the cross-curricular planning of US History and American literature, in the American Experience course.

  • Implemented the use of technology into classroom management, offering an online grade book, weekly assignment and make-up work calendar, and course homepages on the internet.

  • Served as advisor for Chess and Strategy Club and for the Improvisational Theater Club.

  • Attended in-service opportunities covering discipline strategies, special education law, techniques for more effective instruction, OGT preparation, diversity awareness, incorporating of multiple intelligences into classroom lessons, curriculum mapping, and Baldrige in Education training.

  • Organized and led the Science Club’s Walt Disney World, Youth Education Series field trip.  Made all bookings for 18 to 24 travelers, collected funds, assisted students in fund-raising opportunities, supervised students on the trip, and contacted and arranged for parent chaperones.
