Introduction:

 

 

You are a personal trainer employed by the Cincinnati Health Club. As part of your job, you provide custom, individualized diet and exercise portfolios for the clients of the Cincinnati Health Club. Today, four clients have made appointments with personal trainers for diet and exercise assessments: Jon, Michelle, Kim, and Brian. You will be working with one of these clients, creating a customized diet and exercise portfolio as well as an exercise video.

Objectives:

 

Goal/Purpose:

 

Students will investigate exercise and nutritional habits that enhance and maintain health and well-being. Students will film and edit an exercise video for their clients, showing them the proper way to do the exercises that they have recommended.

 

Nutritional Habits:

  • making healthy food choices in a variety of settings.

  • analyzing how food choices are influenced, including how a busy schedule influences food choices.

  • selecting appropriate practices to maintain, lose, or gain weight.

Exercise:

  • following through with a personal fitness plan based on personal fitness goals and the results of periodic self-assessment.

  • analyzing personal motivators related to pursuing physical activity and using those motivators to maintain ongoing participation in physical activities.

  • exploring ways to continue regular exercise practices when schedules change.

Materials Needed:
  • Computers with Internet access and Windows Movie Maker software (students might have to share)

  • Video cameras (students might have to share the school cameras, but may use a digital video camera from home)

  •  CD on which to save the edited video
